Larry and I were brought together after each had experienced a tragedy in their lives. For Larry, it was the loss of his wife after a extended illness, and for Diana, it was an unexpected divorce that caught her by surprise.
Life is short: Life doesn't guarantee happiness. Love is about not just a feeling, but a commitment and sacrifice.
Larry and Diana met by the way of EHarmony. They each answered the 752 questions and were matched. For Diana, it was a complete surprise that she matched with anyone. She had set the bar quite high, impossibly so she thought, and prayed that if God wanted her to be with someone, He would have to provide the right man.
Larry had bravely set forth to find another Christian woman to share his life. He had stayed by Barbara (his late wife) side for an extended illness that kept her in bed, unable to do much other than sleep for more than 10 years. After reeling from the loss of his precious daughter Nicole, just several years before, Larry was no stranger to loss, and knew that time could not be wasted, because tomorrow was not guaranteed.
On March 15, 2013, they had their first date. Larry was 5 minutes late, and Diana was wondering if she truly wanted to do this 'dating' thing. But there was a man, hurriedly walking past the windows of the restaurant, and she thought, that must be Larry.
When you answer over 750 questions about what type of person you are, what you want, what you prioritize, you feel like you know this person, even though you haven't had a telephone conversation. Diana went with her nickname on her profile, so that incase this guy was sketchy then she could just delete her profile and disappear into anonymity.
Diana and Larry talked for 3 hours that night. Larry texted 'Dee Dee' later that night and told her how much he liked meeting her. Her tummy did flips when she read his text, and they planned their next meeting. They had so much in common. They were both Christians, had both attended the same large megachurch, lived just over the hill (literally) from each other, and they knew every John Denver song, even though Larry was skeptical. He was surprised when Diana sang all the words to the song Matthew.
Fast forward to today, the couple lives in Arkansas, where Larry splits his time running his practice in Littleton, Colorado, and Diana primarily focuses on medspa. They both immensely enjoy having some wine and cheese while watching the various birds in the evening, sharing their news of the day to one another and playing with their loving Cavalier King Charles, Margaux!
